Delray - What's not to love?! Love Delray!

My husband and I are English and 8 years ago decided we wanted a holiday home - a bolthole we could visit when the English winter's were grey, wet and miserable and summer was a distant memory.

We had considered Spain or Italy, but their winters are not that much warmer than ours.

We had always loved Florida so decided to start our search there. We had been looking around the Fort Lauderdale area and had almost decided on a condo in Lighthouse Point.

However, by happenstance we took a drive north on the A1A and hit Delray Beach. We wandered down Atlantic Avenue (The Avenue), took in the beach, popped into some of the boutique shops, enjoyed lunch at the Green Owl restaurant, and discovered we were both in love! Not only with each other (we've been married over 40 years!), but with Delray Beach!!

We ventured into several Realtors and spent the next few days viewing properties in Delray Beach.

We found just what we were looking for at just the right price and became the proud owners of a Delray condo in 2002. But the story doesn't end there!

We now have 4 grandkids, with another on the way, and three of them have spent holidays (vacations) in Delray and absolutely love it.

Our sons and their wives are also huge fans. We love walking down Atlantic Avenue (The Avenue), visiting the Atlantic Avenue restaurants and bars, with the added bonus of having the 'Blue Anchor' -a proper British pub!


The beach itself is the best anywhere!! Miles of beautiful sand which all the family really enjoys.

That's what makes Delray so great! Something for everyone whatever their age.

How lovely that you can all enjoy Delray Beach together. And I totally agree with you in that this town has something for absolutely everyone!! That is what is so amazing about Delray Beach!
