Images of America: Delray Beach is written by my friend and local Delray Beach resident, McCall Credle-Rosenthal.
McCall has done a superb job in describing the experiences and early lifestyle of Delray Beach.
McCall meticulously outlines dates, names, experiences, events and aligns them with photographs revealing the history of Delray Beach as a timeline while allowing the reader to see with their own eyes the rich culture and fascinating history of Delray Beach, Florida.
About the Author: McCall Credle-Rosenthal has a diverse background in the arts. While calling Delray Beach, Florida home, she remains an active participant in numerous cultural and civic organizations.
Delray Beach Postcard History of Florida Co-authored: Dorothy W. Patterson and Janet M. DeVries
Delray Beach Postcard History of Florida leads the reader down the roads and waterways of Delray Beach history through lovingly collected postcards. In the 1890s, a diverse group of settlers began gathering on the southeast coast of Florida to build a new community.
These pioneers sought the freedom, adventure, and economic opportunity provided by the new Florida East Coast Railway.
The population of Delray was distinctive for its respect for education, early interest in the arts, love of sports, religious faith, and bonds of community.
By the 1920s, the farming-fishing settlement had blossomed into a sparkling resort town with a thriving winter colony. This unfolding story of Delray Beach and the surrounding vicinity is presented from the Delray Beach Historical Society Archives and private collections.
About the Authors: Coauthors Dorothy W. Patterson and Janet M. DeVries are archivists and curators. Patterson is archivist for the Delray Beach Historical Society, and DeVries is archivist for the Boynton Beach City Library and the Boynton Beach Historical Society.
A portion of the proceeds from this book will benefit the Delray Beach Historical Society Archives and the Schoolhouse Children’s Museum.
The Pop Up Story of Delray Beach Author: Roger Culbertson
The Pop Up Story of Delray Beach is a fun, whimsical pop-up book all about the history of Delray Beach. There are delightful colorful drawings and illustrations all throughout this book.
Each section is dedicated to a historical feature of Delray Beach such as vibrant downtown Delray, a timeline of the past to the present, cultural events and attractions such as Crest Theater, Sandoway Nature Center, Delray Playhouse, Morikami Japanese Garden and Museum, and much more.
On January 11, 2009 the Delray Beach Public Library held its prestigious 10th Annual Author's Showcase and Roger Culbertson was selected for The Pop-Up Story of Delray Beach.
The Pop-Up Story of Delray Beach proceeds are expected to generate approximately $300,000.00 and will benefit the Greater Delray Beach Chamber of Commerce Education Foundation.
